Want to Help? - There are many ways!
Preserving the Voices of America’s Veterans requires more than intention – it requires a community. There are several meaningful ways you can support the mission of Our Honored Archives and ensure these stories are recorded, protected, and shared for generations to come.

1. Monetary Contributions
Financial support directly enables the recording, processing, and preservation of Veteran oral histories. Contributions help fund travel, recording equipment, archival preparation, and permanent submission to the Library of Congress and National Archives.

Every donation, regardless of size, plays a role in ensuring that no story is lost!
2. Donate the Use of a Recording Space
A quiet, respectful environment is essential for capturing meaningful conversations. You can support this mission by offering access to a suitable location for interviews.
This may include:
-
Office spaces
-
Hotel rooms or conference suites
-
Private residences
-
Civic centers or community spaces
Providing a space creates a comfortable setting where Veterans can speak openly, without distraction.

3. Volunteer – Pre-Interview Support
Before each interview takes place, there is important preparation that ensures the process is smooth, respectful, and organized.

Volunteers in this role assist with:
-
Coordinating schedules
-
Communicating with Veterans and families
-
Preparing documentation and consent forms
-
Ensuring participants understand the process
This work is essential to building trust and setting the foundation for a successful interview.
4. Volunteer – Ambassador & Advocate
Awareness is critical. Many Veterans are willing to share their stories – they simply need to be reached.
As an ambassador, you help:
-
Connect Veterans and families with Our Honored Archives
-
Share the mission within your community or network
-
Promote events, recordings, and fundraising efforts
Your voice extends the reach of this initiative and ensures more stories are preserved.
5. Volunteer – Interviewer
Conducting interviews is one of the most meaningful ways to contribute. This role requires professionalism, patience, and a deep respect for each Veteran’s experience.
Interviewers are responsible for:
-
Guiding thoughtful, structured conversations
-
Creating a calm, pressure-free environment
-
Ensuring the Veteran remains in control of their story
-
Ensuring that the final piece meets required technical standards
This avenue to serve requires a commitment to training and guidance (which are provided), but the most important qualities are integrity, attentiveness, and respect.
